Retirement Community, Jinshan, Shanghai

This project was undertaken in partnership with PRP China, based in Shanghai, as the principles of both practices have a long working relationship on Specialist Housing Projects. This project aimed to provide possible masterplan ideas for the conversion of a country park and external theatre, into a wider retirement community. The site would provide all levels of care for the people who live here, from assisted living to critical care. It would also offer specialist holiday accommodation, adaptable to suit the needs of the people visiting, from hotel rooms to self catering apartments and chalets. The centre of the community also provided leisure activities, restaurants, a shopping mall, alternative and Chinese medicine practitioners, cinemas, dance halls and many water based sports.
