Refurbishment and Upgrade of Apartment

This project is a little different to the majority we work on as the upgrade and refurbishment of the apartment was to create value in its re-sale, rather than for the owners themselves. The apartment had provided the family home for our clients for over 20 years, but they were looking to retire and move back closer to their families. The apartment provided fantastic space in this very desirable neighbourhood, but needed a little TLC to bring it up to the standard the market demands, and the value our client wished to achieve. We worked closely with the client to develop a deign fitting for the area, but at a budget that allowed the apartment to provide the selling price they needed to fulfil their dreams in their next location. The materials, fixtures and fittings were all selected to provide a good quality finish, but at a sensible price. The contractor Tamasi Ltd is one that we work with on many of our projects, with them providing another quality project here, not only in the build quality, but their friendly management style that works for both Client and Architect.

The project included a complete refurbishment, with all existing fixtures, fittings, skirtings, cornices and service installations renewed, with the existing windows refurbished and upgraded as far as we were allowed in this listed terrace. All furniture has been designed specifically for the apartment and built on site to ensure that it worked with all other elements of the design. A new master suite was created to provide a dressing room and en-suite bathroom from the bedroom, whilst the family bathroom was enlarged to create something more suitable for this size of apartment. Doors were renewed with a number relocated to provide improved access to a number of rooms, particularly the main reception room. A space for keys and those items you need to put down inside the front door was created in the central hallway, with lighting and mirrors to helps create the feeling of additional space.
